Basics Of Fort Collins Plumbing Remodels
The system that’s going to be installed in your remodel consists of two basic functions, bringing freshwater in, and sending waste water out. Water is generally brought into your Colorado home under pressure. This allows it to travel upwards and around corners or bends in the walls. It also provides enough pressure for water to exit your tap or shower head. When our remodel plumber in Fort Collins CO is working on your home, we’ll generally tap into your main line to supply your addition or renovated space with water.
The pressurized H20 running into your home is generally ready to be used for cold water supply. However, you’re probably going to want hot water in your bathroom or shower. As such, we’ll tap into a hot water source or run a line from your water heater into the renovated area. This device is used to heat and hold water at a high temperature, generally around 140°F-160°F for extended periods of time.
During a plumbing renovation, we generally hook your waste water pipes into a sewer or septic tank, depending on the location of your Fort Collins home or business, and the previous system installed. These lines don’t generally run by pressure as your hot and cold water would. Instead the plumbing is installed at a downward angle and is powered by gravity. However, these systems aren’t quite as simple as water running downhill.
Our remodel plumber will need to hook any new waste lines into what’s called a vent. This is generally the pipes you see sticking out of the roof of your house, and help keep everything flowing normally. Without this piece you’d need to siphon away any waste water. Additionally, our crew here at Bershinsky Plumbing will need to install what’s called a “trap”. These are basic curved or s-shaped pieces of pipe that you’ll find installed underneath sinks and inside toilets. They contain water that helps keep sewage gases from creeping back up through the plumbing and into your home!
What’s The Cost To Re-plumb A House?
The average cost of re-plumbing a house or room during a remodel varies from project to project. Depending on the size of the task, the materials that are going to be used, and the age of the home, you’ll be looking at anywhere from a few hundred bucks to several thousand dollars. For example the cost to replace the plumbing in an old house is going to cost you anywhere from $2,500-$15,000 and if we need to replace the main water line coming from your home’s meter you should expect to pay anywhere from $600-$2,300.
While those may seem like daunting figures, the cost to renovate the plumbing in a room will often total up to a lot less than five grand. We’ll often charge around $4.50 per square foot of plumbing on your addition or remodel depending on the difficulty and size of the project. Whatever the case, we’ll make sure that you receive quality work at a fair price!
